We have been living here in Charlotte for 2 1/2 years but never been to the Columbia, SC zoo (which happens to be our nearest one). It is about an 1 1/2 drive, but yesterday Blaine had a day off so we decided to go and check it out. It was a really nice zoo, granted it wasn't the biggest one, but it was shaded well (which was a good thing because it was over 90 degrees), and they had some fun things for young kids.
Here are a few pictures from our adventure.
First stop was the birdhouse. It was really cool, they had a really neat penguin exhibit, as well as several other exotic birds. They boys really enjoyed seeing them all.
This zoo actually had a place that you could feed giraffes. We didn't pay the $2.00 for the little bit of lettuce they give you, but it was pretty cool getting to be right up close to them.
Will loved looking at the Zoo Map. Although he didn't really guide us, it was pretty funny to watch him walking along with it, acting like he was trying to figure out where we were going.
We didn't take quite as many pictures this zoo trip as we usually do, but we definitely would love to go back sometime and see it again.
