Weekend at Mike & Lynsee's

This past weekend I came down from Charlotte and Blaine came up from Brunswick, GA at his training, and we met in Charleston at my sister Lynsee's house. We have had such a fun weekend. We played the tourist game one more time since we don't know when or if we will have the opportunity to come to Charleston again. Lynz and Mike are moving to Tennessee in December so that Mike can go to school, so we will not have any more family here. We got here Thursday night and went to Coconut Joe's, one of Blaine and I's favorite restaurants. It is on the Isle of Palms, and has a perfect view of the beach. The food was great as usual, and we had a lot of fun.

On Friday we went with Mike, Lynsee, Addison, Ashley, and her friend Adriana to downtown Charleston to see all of the fun sights. The first thing that we did was go through the slave markets. At least that what they call them in Charleston. It is so much fun seeing all of the things that are for sale. Just a little bit of history, slaves were not actually sold in these markets, they were sold closer to the water, but these were used to sell merchandise back in those times as well.

We also went into one of the touristy shops nearby so that Blaine could buy a hat and Adriana could look for a t-shirt.

After we did our shopping we went around to see some of the different sights. We went into the incredibly ritzy hotel The Charleston Place, walked past rainbow row, went down by the harbor and played in the pineapple fountain. This is a fountain that the mayor of Charleston said could only be built if kids were allowed to play in it. Even the adults waded in it. It was much needed after and incredibly hot day. After we looked at several of the tourist sights, we went to Bubba Gumps for lunch. Blaine and I love Bubba Gumps even if it is not exclusive to Charleston.

After a fun day in Charleston we came home and pretty much slept, we were all exhausted from the heat and all the walking we did that day.

On Saturday we decided to go back to the Isle of Palms and have a day at the beach. We spent about 3 hours there, and had a blast. However afterwards, even with 30spf sunblock, Blaine and I both came home with sunburns on our back, and Blaine on his shoulders as well. It was still a lot of fun though.

We have had a really fun weekend. Blaine and I both love Charleston and are going to miss visiting it as often as we do. Blaine will be heading back to Georgia tonight, and I will be heading back to Charlotte. We may have a chance to get back to Charleston one more time next weekend but we'll see. Thanks for you hospitality Lynz and Mike, we had a lot of fun!!!
